Our 'baby' started Kindergarten today. This just can not be possible. It seems like just a few months ago that we were bringing her home from the hospital. We took her out of the truck and carried her into the house for the first time. This morning we got into the very same truck and drive 3 1/2 miles to her school. I might note here that the 3.5 mile trip took us just a few moments shy of 1 full hour. I am told that this is a first day phenomenon and it does get better. I am happy to say that it was a surprisingly non-traumatic event (except for the 1 hour commute). Amber and I met her teacher, Miss Crawford, the other day so Amber had been reassured about that one detail. She was also nervous about meeting her new classmates and she says that one of her Sunday-School classmates is in her class at school. She also wasn't too sure about riding the bus. She reports that other than being hot, the bus is GREAT because there aren't any seat belts... KIDS!!! I'm not sure exactly how many of the other stories she told me over lunch were real because she later told me that she made some of them up. It looks like she has a small class which I'm happy about on several levels...more one on one interaction, fewer viruses to share, fewer party invites, fewer viruses to share, easier to get to know the other kids and parents. Oh and did I mention colds and fewer viruses to share? I want to thank a very special lady who has helped me through this starting school thing. Donna, THANK YOU, without you I would have been a complete wreck! My husband, Atoyot, would say that this is becoming a novel so I will close now by saying that as usual, I worried about so many things and God had it all in control as he always does. My Amberpoo “did school” like a pro. I guess I always knew she would. Sweet Heart, Mommy is so proud of you! If you click on the Photo Gallery, there are photos in the "Philips Family" album of Amberpoo's first day of School. |
