9/22/05 - PREPARATIONS - We are about 80 miles north of Galveston and we had decided to "ride out the storm" at home.  We woke up this morning to find that they were predicting a possible stike just to the West of  Galveston, that would put us in the path of the eye or on the dirty side, so we were a bit more nervous about our decision.  However, by this time, the evacuation routes were at a near standstill so there was no point in trying to leave.  We just went ahead with our preparation plans. We put everything in the garage that isn't tied down, made a bunch of ice, and cleaned some camping gear to store drinking water.  We also cleared out our 'interior room' (my closet) for when the worst of the storm comes through so we can take shelter if we need to.

Hopefully we will just have some wind, rain and an interesting story to tell when this is all over.  We will update this message after the storm passes...
