HURRICANE RITA - Wind and a few drops of rain.

09/25/05 - IT'S OVER for us... Our hurricane Rita experience was mild.  We were blessed and we are thankful for that.  God protected us by moving the landfall about 80 to 100 miles to our East.  We did have tropical storm force gusts and 30 to 40 mile per hour winds for probably 10 to 12 hours but we did not sustain any damage.  Our only inconvenience was 30 hours without power. We were never without water and we were able to keep track of what was happening with the storm on a battery opperated radio.  We did lose most of what was in our freezers but that can all be replaced and it was in need of being cleaned out anyway.  The high temperatures over the next few days will be very hard on the people that still do not have their power back.  Ours came back on just as we were about to leave and spend the afternoon with friends.

We were able to get gasoline for our vehicles today (I had 1/4 tank and Alex had less than 1/2 tank) and it was only  $2.99 per gallon.  This was another answer to prayers.

We were able to spend some nice time with our next door neighbors and they had a neat family thing happen Thursday.  These things probably would not have happened if Rita had not come to town.  God even uses Hurricanes...   Amber got to spend most of Thursday, Friday and Saturday outside which is basically her idea of a perfect day.

Please remember those who were hit by Rita as they repair and rebuild.

I have posted a few before and after photos of our yard in the Photo Gallery.
